Students who did NOT have me for research methods are generally upset they did not learn to use Zotero until their senior year. Some have perfected using it with Google docs (I have not) and they teach one another.

Ideally I have some of these students in the capstone semester (busy grading their drafts now) so they have lots of their sources already saved and annotated in @zotero.org and are way ahead of the game. They are required to use it for capstone research as well.

Here’s a folder with the key assignments I use to get my students using Zotero. Along with this, they produce an annotated bibliography for a research prospectus and have to put all the annotations in Zotero. I introduce the platform in an in class workshop. drive.google.com/drive/folder...

Yes, although it’s all wrapped up in a scaffolded research assignments, for both my research methods/historiography course and the capstone research seminar (history). I’ll find my stuff and post here.

I’ve been doing this for years for my research courses. They have to make shared libraries that I can see and add things to. They submit their assignments there as well. I grade them on how well it’s organized (a nominal percentage). They become Zotero evangelists.

I do not see the words “ethics” or “ethically” anywhere in the long job description.
