Since everyone is very into impressive tracking shots, may I recommend this one from Soy Cuba (1964)? It starts at 1.40, and I have no idea how it was done in a time before drones were cameras were heavy and unwieldy. youtu.be/sYFXv6bDIY8?...

The dress Gwendoline Christie wore in Severance is a festdrakt (at least it looks like one). Norway has national costumes called bunads, that are very expensive and the variations are linked to specific locations. To wear those you’re expected to have some link to the location they’re from. 1/2

This joke haunts me. Every time I associate anything with anything else, I go «is this a valid comparison or am I just Boss Babying this?»

Anyway, the ending of season 2 of #Severance

Today my daughter is sleeping over at my parents house, just because she asked. She was so excited about it she constructed a «waiting room» in kindergarten, and spent her entire outside time sitting there, happily waiting for grandma.

Watching science shows for kids was a parenting perk I hadn’t considered. I’m genuinely learning so much cool new stuff.

I love Severance and think it’s an extremely well made show, but I need everyone who says nothing is an accident in the show to know that it is made by humans and there will be accidents and details that don’t carry meaning. It can be great without perfection.

Is there a love story more tragic than that of Goldie O’Gilt and Scrooge McDuck?

At a time where none of this was expected of men, my grandfather played with his daughters, washed the house and was openly affectionate with his wife. My grandparents modelled an equal relationship and great love, both for each other and their daughters. It’s a legacy I’m proud to inherit.

The good thing about anxiety is that when something really bad happens, you at least don’t have to dread it anymore.

I’m learning how to make jewellery from silver clay (it’s amazing how much you can learn from youtube!) It’s both fun and nerve-wracking, because the clay is very expensive for very small amounts, and it dries out in minutes, so you don’t get second chances. Anyway, here are two things I’ve made.

The combination of a bunch of life stuff putting writing on hold for a month and trying to get back into it when I left off in the middle of the chapter I feel the least confident in has been brutal, but I think I finally got back into it today.

Here’s a parenting hack for you: don’t buy cute clothes your kids. It will feel impossible to give them up once they outgrow them. It’s very easy to declutter when it’s just plain basics.

It’s really hard to explain why a nightmare was so emotionally devastating you started crying after you wake up when you have to mention the weird little dream twists like «and somehow the baby was Prince Harry».

Do people truly believe in zodiacs? I keep seeing people refer to their sign as if it says something real about them.

You know how pregnant women start nesting when they subconsciously feel labour approaching? Two days ago I suddenly felt like cleaning the toilet. That same evening I started a sixteen hour bout of violently vomiting into said toilet.

It’s pretty difficult to get started on new medication while you have a baby who doesn’t sleep. What’s side effects and what’s sleep deprivation? Who knows?

I need someone to confirm that Titus Burgess voices the turtle in You’re a Star from Wish. I can’t find anything about it, but that is his voice.

I’ve started writing so many books, and they all get abandoned somewhere between 7K-10K words. My current is at 7627. I have two things I haven’t had before, however. A proper outline and Ritalin. (Typical woman diagnosed with ADHD in her late 30s).
Follow to see if I finally finish something!

I’ve got a new article up on CrimeReads today! Completely unrelated to Thanksgiving.
The Most Dangerous Locked Room of All? Space!
A body on the floor. No perceivable way for the murderer to get in or out. Few tangible clues (or so it seems). Locked room mysteries have long held an appeal to the detective-reader. Our brains de…

Incredibly niche, but I am so shocked to find that what Norwegians call crow silver is not the same as fool’s gold, but muscovite mica. Is there even a folks name for that in English?

I stopped being able to engage with others on the internet once we shifted from making friends to gathering followers.

I’m so fed up with the lazy narrative that John Mulaney built his career on talking about his wife. He did one bit in one special, and mentioned her a few times in interviews. He talked way more about his history with addiction and people still paint him as pretending to be a clean cut wife guy.
