From my (non-lawyer) understanding, this law now removes that option for people in Illinois.

BUT here’s the reality: in many parts of the world, access to a qualified human mental health professional is a privilege enjoyed by only a fortunate few.

AI systems are not trained therapists, and they should never replace them. The intention – to protect vulnerable people from harmful or misleading advice by AI chatbots – is right and important.
