I dunno... stuff like Line of Duty seem like very procedural internal affairs stuff, and a few seasons in there's crooked cop assassins gunning people down on the regular

Indeed - and it fails to grapple with the issue that law enforcement often give confused or contradictory instructions that are impossible to comply with. In this case, eye-witnesses claim she was being told to move.

Universities are already giving staff burner phones and blank laptops for conferences in the US. This will lead to them just advising staff not to travel and kill international conferences in the US

The issue there is which Irish? Plenty of mythmaking about being descended from the OG neolithic Irish settlers, and in general, all invaders/settlers are seen as inherently foreign unless it serves a nationalistic message (they rebelled!) And you have Travellers too as an indigenous ethnic minority

There is a particular smell in the morning where we live on the edge of Turku, older houses often burning in the morning.
We have wood and a fire, but it's just an emergency thing now so we can survive if something happens to the grid

And its not even competetive, I think. Some local maniac decides they'd like to have a go, no one else cares, so they get in. Incidentally how our class rep in the student union was 'elected'.

I see bits and pieces of this, often in relation to big forestry or the S/K chains, but is there a good source to dig in deeper? Searching in English doesn't seem to get me anywhere. Interested especially in how big incumbent players might use lobbying against new entrants

But austerity and high unemployment will only increase this sentiment, in my opinion. Argument goes why should we bring in people who don't speak Finnish when local people can't get jobs and benefits are cut? In Ireland the lack of housing or service places fuels similar rhetoric

Once you concede ground and say 'I don't agree with everything but they make a good point about X' you are in danger of sliding further and further right due to peer effects and defensiveness I think. 'Now look what you made me do' discourse very common among 'more moderate' right

Yeah - Nell clearly benefits from it, the original girl... drops out and becomes an artist instead of a ruthless capitalist or something, the Mouse Army kick ass and also choose their own destiny instead of whatever neo-Confucian-BS roles they were groomed for. But it has been a while
