I was a child during the “Satanic Panic.” Like so many things lately, this seems like we’re back in the 80’s. Everything old is new again, including “devil worship,” just now with a “Telegram inspired grenade.” The devil isn’t the real threat.

Saw an old friend today in a facility I help manage; err…I think it was an old friend. Addiction is a helluva thing. Just floored! Was that him? His tattoo? Had to be. I parted for good reason, but I haven’t stopped wondering…no, no no…no need to wonder.

Meanwhile, in Utah, we’ll pray for rain since our elected officials can take no meaningful action or do, you know, “government things,” like curtailing the watering of lawns in the mid-afternoon 97° heat.

So much for the “thin blue/red line.” They teachers should talk to their legislators instead of unions is laughable. How quickly the legislature has forgotten the 2024 budgets cuts to Utah Public Education that were passed despite unequivocal teacher opposition.

The U.S. House of Representatives Report on the COVID-19 pandemic (and the Democratic response)…ugh. So much for political science; we’re now headlong into the era of #politicizedscience. Still, I’m reading both, though I will admit that the bullet points from the Dems response are…not encouraging.

Four weeks after the election, I feel rejuvenated in my commitments to social justice, the need to press on and maintain as much momentum as possible in an effort to keep the causes I care about moving forward, and to ensure I’m doing my part to support the wellbeing and equality of all people.

I can’t get scenes of the Buy Now documentary out of my head and watching it after of Hoarders is a real trip. Are we unwitting victims of a consumerism conspiracy or complicit because it fuels a basic psychological need that few non-exploiters understand? The scale of it is pretty hard to fathom.
