Oh, good to know and thank you!

I think the only SF/F I've published (or am going to publish) within that window are *much* over the limit; shortest is about 22k words, but it sounds like an awesome project and good luck with it!

Maybe I'll hone in on it next year :D

I don't have anything that fits the length restrictions! But still reposting for visibility <3

My most recent one from last year! Had a new friend (him in the second pic wearing a pumpkin) who'd just moved up from Mexico and he'd never done pumpkin carving before. I saw this vaguely skullish pumpkin and mentioned Calavera and he urged me to go for it - really proud of how it turned out!
A pumpkin, wider at the top and narrowed toward the bottom somewhat like a skull, which has been carved into (but not carved right through) in a design like a Calavera, the decorated skulls associated with Dia de los Muertos in Mexico, with flowery designs around the eyes, nose, and teeth. A man in blue jeans and a black t-shirt, fists on hips, proudly wearing a pumpkin on his head.

Ooh love the colour changing and how it shifts the expressions - good plan!

Same here! Hell I have a wife because of it (kinda, we met on a webcomics site forum, but I'm counting it)!

I do think it's quite amusing that almost no major city has citizens that actually use its name. They'll either use a slang, a slurred version, or just forego the city name entirely to just start listing districts and such.

#Maintenance quick tips:

"Oh no! The only screws I have/ can find are too long!"

Don't fret!

1) Screw in all the way and mark.
2) If it splits, push screw through the other part and mark it. Add lengths together. If the piece doesn't split, go to 3)
3) Cut with hacksaw
4) File smooth
5) Success!
A picture of a much-too-long metric machine screw, threaded fully into a plastic clamshell (half of a motorcycle handlebar control). A picture of the same metric machine screw, pushed fully through the other half of the plastic clamshell. A pair of marker marks show where the plastic was, from each side of the screw. (Essentially you'd want to cut out the middle piece, but since we obviously can't do that, we add the two lengths together and cut the end off at that point instead.) A picture of a too-long machine screw, held in a vice, with a hacksaw blade resting against it. If you don't have a vice, a pair of pliers held firmly against a countertops edge can work! Also remember that a properly mounted hacksaw cuts on the forward stroke (there should be an arrow marked in the blade - it cuts in the direction of that arrow, and that should point forward) so that is when you should be applying pressure. A picture of a no-longer-too-long machine screw, with rough edges, being smoothed out on a file. Your goal isn't to take away too much material - just smooth off the roughness and try to avoid damaging or altering the threads at all.

I wish they were more accessible here. Probably I need to look at a wider range of grocery stores - not a local crop but it would be nice to get it not in a can. Haven't even found 'em dried here!

Today is a young vampire spawn messily feeding on someone mid-coitus! So uh, if that - and internal fixation on blood and hunger - sound like fun, go ahead and read! If not, not!

"On one of the first nights they passed within earshot (or at least, her earshot) of a camp with a different sort of activity within it. The distant sounds of moans, groans, shouts; hearts pounding with exertion and passion, several of them, and the rhythmic hammerblows of them filled Viola’s head and echoed within it like it was an empty tin can, until she could not hear what Chris was saying – until she couldn’t force herself to focus on his words, but thought only of flesh and heat and blood all at once.

“I am hungry,” she stated simply, reaching for Chris’ hand. Her tongue tensed, as if there were more words upon it, but her mind didn’t have many words to give. Instead, she tugged him off away toward a large boulder set into the sandy landscape.

Chris nodded, following; Wyrria watched them go in the moonlight. “I’ll just wait here, shall I? Don’t worry, I don’t have anything better to do.”"

Ah, okay, interesting - well, colour me interested in reading more whenever it's available! I've only read a handful of bits and pieces here and there but I like what I've read :D
jaredgoring.com
Honestly I just wanna read the whole thing at this point! Which is surely gonna be an option at some point, eh? Or is it already - is the book out?

I always like the organic developments in character and in story - they're often the most satisfying and solid I feel.

I will so happily talk about it! I can't speak for every polyamorous relationship of course - nor every style of them - but between myself and friends and partners I think I'm a petty decent knowledge base :D

Plus I work at a bakery and this is the week before (Canadian) Thanksgiving so my work schedule is currently *all the work* XD

Maybe in a couple weeks once that dies down!
jaredgoring.com
Oh hey don't worry about it - mine'll stick around! XD No rush (and indeed no need at all) to read them; I've been falling behind myself. So many folks posting so many great things! Sadly I don't have enough time to read them all every day 😭
jaredgoring.com
Yep, absolutely! So many things these days are - AI, news, blogs and reviews; everything oriented to completing the act of intaking something without actually intaking anything… giving the *impression* that you know, without ever having learned.

Thing is, impressions aren't the same as reality.
jaredgoring.com
Yeah obviously I'm not fixated at all, not even a little bit, nope >.>

(Okay maybe a little)

(Okay a lot)

Thank you thank you! <3

~perspective shift that comes from talking with someone and seeing a work in a whole new way; for those who'll never experiment, just eat their AI literary chicken nuggets until they die and tell everyone that it's the exact same as real food, or in fact, even better.
