Captain Harlock is a great manga about a Space Pirate in the year 2977 who takes it upon himself to become the defender of Earth as the government there has become decadent and lazy.
When an alien race named the Mazone start invading the Earth, Harlock is the only one who dares to stand up to them.

Horror of Dracula is one of my favorite Dracula films, although it takes many liberties, the Gothic atmosphere is amazing, and Peter Cushing as Van Helsing is one of the best on screen versions I have ever seen, also complimented by Christopher Lee's excellent presence as Count Dracula.

Once and Future is a great comic book series about a man and his mother who must fight against zombie legions released by an undead King Arthur.l

If I had a top 5 werewolf film list, An American Werewolf in London would always be at the top.

Dark Wars is a great novella about Dracula coming to Japan in the 1880's, looking for new victims.

A swordsman must now find a way to destroy Dracula when his beloved falls under the spell of the fiend.

Even we creepy people can be festive.

The Kyle Rayner run of Green Lantern has always been my favorite as I could always relate to his character the best since he was also a creative person.

This run will always be my favorite.

Some awesome Castlevania Christmas humor.

Bram Stoker's Dracula starring Bela Lugosi is a graphic novel that tells the story of the book, but Dracula is drawn in the likeness of Bela Lugosi (with permission of the Lugosi estate of course).

Bela Lugosi was the first actor to play in an official adaptation of Dracula (Nosferatu came first, but that wasn't an official adaptation).

It is his performance when we think of Dracula, his voice, his mannerisms, his stare.

I loved this show growing up, how many of you have seen Count Duckula?
December 10, 2025 at 8:11 AM
Despite the hate this title gets, I personally love Castlevania legends, and I would love it if they were to give us a remastered version of this game.

Bram Stoker, Mary Shelley, Chris Claremont, and Hideyuki Kikuchi are the authors that have inspired my style.

All of them are good at creating atmosphere, compelling characters, and having stories that have timeless themes no matter when you read them.

Blade of the Immortal is a manga about a Samurai who is killed trying to save his sister.
He is then brought back to life by an old sage woman who uses mystical blood worms which in turn make the Samurai immortal.

The only way he can become mortal again is if he kills 1000 evil people.

Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) is one of the more accurate adaptations of the novel, although it still does take some liberties (The origin story being completely made up)

However the Gothic tone, characters, and story, make this film stand out and still worth watching today.

Another comic character face off, in this case it's two versions of the same character.

Which version of Blade do you prefer?

The original human vampire hunter, or the half human/vampire that we've all become familiar with?

The ring wraiths in Ralph Bakshi's Lord of the Rings used to scare the piss out of me when I was a kid.

Maybe this is where my love of Gothic horror began. 😁

In addition to Castlevania, I am also a huge fan of the Legacy of Kain games.

Hopefully now that they are remastering the games, that it means a whole new game in the series is on the horizon.

90's comic book character face off, who had the best 90's look?

Vampire tales was a great Marvel comic magazine which featured various tales of all sorts of of vampire characters, however the main feature was usually a Morbius story.

Two great samurai films for the price of one.

Usagi Yojimbo is a great comic book series about an anthropomorphic rabbit samurai who after his master dies, wanders the country fighting bandits and supernatural creatures.
December 4, 2025 at 8:28 AM
The Zatoichi films are great movies about a blind swordsman in edo period Japan who travels around the country helping villagers from bandits and corrupt lords.

Many have tried but no one plays the character better than Shintaro Katsu.

I love Chris Claremont's work, especially the stuff that he wrote for the X-men.
His stuff was so impactful that much of it is still felt in comic books even today.
