Best advice I can give to parents: once a week go to the library, pick out a stack of books (make sure your kid gets to pick out several on their own) and then throughout the week, read them together. Reread their favorites. Talk about them together. Snuggle and read. Ask open ended questions.

Hey, as a librarian I need to tell you:

Our funding depends on usage.

So go ahead and check out that book even if you don't think you'll finish it. No one will know. Check out that DVD even though you might not like it. Get ambitious in your quest for knowledge.

Many readers now think of Margaret Wise Brown titles like “The Runaway Bunny” as tranquil introductions to storytelling. But the books, like their author, were radical for their time.
The Radical Woman Behind “Goodnight Moon”
Margaret Wise Brown constantly pushed boundaries—in her life and in her art.

Going to the library fucking rules. You can walk in and pick your favorite things and then walk right out without paying anything. It's unbelievable and 100% the kind of thing that won't exist in the future unless you recognize the goodness now before it's too late

NEW BOOK announcement!! Check out the official rights report from @pwkidsbookshelf.bsky.social

LOOPS from @simonkids.bsky.social hits shelves next spring.
Vignettes of a boy stopping to tie his shoe, admiring his tied shoe, and running off in front of a script type that says "LOOPS"

Text below reads:
Celia Lee at Simon & Schuster has acquired Loops by Geisel Honor author-illustrator Jashar Awan, a picture book about the perseverance and positive self-talk needed to learn to tie your shoelaces, and be a big kid. Publication is scheduled for spring 2026; Erica Silverman at Stimola Literary Studio negotiated the deal for world English rights.
