As announced at #elo25, work toward the Electronic Literature Collection 5 (to be published in 2027) has begun and a call for submissions will soon be released.

We are asking for help translating and spreading the upcoming call.

Past ELCs: collection.eliterature.org
Call for volunteer consultants to help with translating the upcoming call-for-submissions and spreading call to different communities.

Summary: Bitsy will be 10 next year; I've been working on documenting its journey.

While at #ELO25 I’m launching a new online project. Here is “No Time to Discourse”—a speculative atlas of future climate disaster. Millions of (non-AI) procedurally generated flash fiction disaster stories. And they all hit a little too close to home these days. notime.now
A water color map with a bunch a red pins. One popup displays a flash fiction disaster story:

Akron, Ohio
Monday, September 6, 2027

"It's hotter than Hades," they say. They're right. Hades is the devil's icebox compared to this. The tracks near Akron buckle, a sun kink it's called, derailing a freight train carrying chlorine and ethanol. The ambient sound of ten thousand HVACs washes over the land.

This!! Re:UVA DH+environmental hum prof/DHC Faculty Director ad. *Please, please* do apply if you do DH but aren't familiar w/environmental humanities as a term/field. Think expansive view of social justice that has/could add any tie into place or place-based human experience, planet and/or climate+
walshbr.bsky.social
Also would encourage DH folks to view the environmental humanities component expansively. It does have to fit, but trying to push for an expansive view towards archives, critique of AI impact, minimal computing, preservation and sustainability, etc.
