US tourists have got a bad reputation, as loud, crass and uncultured. But I always tell people, these are the good ones! You should meet the ones that've never left their hometown let alone gotten a passport! At least the tourists have realised other cultures exist, even if they complain about them

... charging electric cars or using the washing machine during those periods of maximum generation by making electricity free in those times. Also becoming more common is using remote curtailment to disconnect some of the generation capacity

There's too much power being added into the grid from the amount of sun we get in the middle of the day, and nowhere for it to go. Grid has gotta balance, in = out, or else it can cause damage to the infrastructure. So they're trying to influence people to do power intensive stuff like charging...

In Australia the vast majority of solar is installed on the roofs of buildings. We are generating so much solar in the Eastern cities that it's destabilizing the grid and they're giving away power for free to try and balance it. It's a no-brainer.
