So the other night, after a poor night by my son’s team, some of the boys let their frustration out. A dad went through the parents waiting line telling us our kids lacked class. I couldn’t believe the irony of this guy basically complaining about how the kids behaved by doing the same thing.

As a father of kids that play sports, I can only hope that through this process they learn how to communicate effectively with their teammates and coaches. They learn how to advocate for themselves and seek feedback to improve themselves.

Six decades later, Star Trek may still be the only franchise based on the ideas that diversity is strength, justice is the measure of civilization, bounty is to be shared, peace is worth the price, and all these things can be achieved.

We need more shows that look ahead and find goodness.

Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.
