Once upon a time there was supposed to be a public option in PPACA. It would have permitted individuals to buy into a Medicare type plan and to buy in at cost.

CMS is practically the most efficient bureau in the history of the world and operates at 2% overhead.

Private plans can't compete.

All too true, and say nothing for the core concept of group purchasing power in risk rated insurance pools being totally lost in the entire conversation.

When everyone bargains for health insurance alone, only the insurance companies win.

You will never get a better deal by going it alone.

It's true, and the wildly inaccurate claims they make on unvalidated measures are a whole cottage industry of bullshit.

Some of these 'wearables' don't even have physically plausible mechanisms.

A watch can't assess your lungs' gas exchange capacity.

A ring can't perform an ECG.

Bullshit.
