I'll be running as the progressive choice in the Democratic primary for the US Senate seat in Virginia in 2026. I'd love to have your support.

That's what happens when old, out of touch people draft the bills. Maybe they figured we'd be so pissed about the ACA cave that we wouldn't notice. 🤷

I appreciate the feedback, but I'm not changing who I am just to appeal to voters. I wouldn't want to vote for someone who would compromise themselves like that.
Regardless of how I look, I will always vote my values and will not be compromised by the establishment or special interests.

So you can't convince your Republican "friends" to do anything good and now you can't convince your fellow Democrats to not do something bad.

What good are the relationships you've been building for three terms?

If you're really motivated, I can always use volunteers. Whatever you're passionate about or good at, I'm happy to let you do it for the campaign. Just let me know.

If you'd still like to help somehow, I'd be very happy to have you tell a friend or neighbor that I'm running. I'm happy to mail out some literature to share with anyone you think would be interested.

That one I understand.

My trans son was a big reason I decided to run. Equal rights regardless of ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or anything else is something I will never compromise on.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least. We have too many Dems that are comfortable just toeing the party line while trying to portray themselves as effective opposition. We need leaders willing to do what needs to be done, not just what they're told to do.

I probably shouldn't admit this, but I had to look up milkshake duck.
November 10, 2025 at 3:26 AM
Thanks. I've been pretty disappointed with both @markwarner.bsky.social and @kaine.senate.gov myself.
I don't know how you look at the election we just had and decide that your constituents want you to cave to the Republicans in exchange for empty promises.
November 10, 2025 at 3:13 AM
I do actually. I have a poorly done dharma wheel on my forearm.
November 10, 2025 at 3:02 AM
Nope, I'm not @markwarner.bsky.social.

I'm running on policies that benefit regular people. Stuff like affordable housing, affordable and accessible healthcare, a higher minimum wage, fair taxation, protecting the rights of everyone, and safeguarding democracy.

I'd love to earn your support.

I was just getting ready to post this. They really do seem to trade off who's turn it is to make the bad decision.
No chance of that happening if I make it to office. I will ALWAYS vote my values, whatever the political cost.
November 10, 2025 at 1:46 AM
I don't begrudge @markwarner.bsky.social his millions, he earned them. I do wish he was more in touch with the economic situations that the rest of us are living in though.
November 7, 2025 at 12:23 PM
I can't promise that I'd be able to lower prices if elected, and anyone that does is a bad liar.
I can promise that I would fight for things like tax reform, universal healthcare, equal housing access, interest rate reform, and equal opportunities for all.
November 7, 2025 at 12:13 PM
I can't promise that if elected I'll be able to accomplish any of my goals, but I can promise that I will never be bought and will never give up on pushing for affordability, accountability, opportunity, and equality for all.

Thanks @heathermassey.com. You said it beautifully. I consider myself more running for change and less running because I oppose @markwarner.bsky.social. He's a great option for centrists that are good with the status quo, but that's no longer good enough for me.
November 7, 2025 at 11:44 AM
That was a good read. Thankfully, I can't afford pollsters, so I'll be focusing on MY issues like affordability, inclusion, and safeguarding our rights; not whatever the establishment talking points are.
