Former conservative, forever American 🇺🇸
The exit poll data does fairly concretely demonstrate a notable swing among male voters, particular Latino and Black men, toward Republicans and away from Democrats. I don’t think any further data analysis is going to indicate a different outcome.

So, why was that the case?

Do you think the rise in young people identifying as transgender has poured fuel on the culture war fire the republicans started?

Gen Z does identify as transgender at a higher rate than prior generations.

What is the chicken and what is the egg here?
November 21, 2024 at 10:50 PM
I’m curious why the trans rights issue only became prominent over the last 4-5 years vs. all of prior recorded history.

What changed that made this such a hot button topic, right there with abortion?

How do we realistically take this approach to other products other than a social media platform?

Feels like a slippery slope.

Well, the original post sort of slammed Wall Streeters who are just doing their job. And those jobs are increasingly taken by groups of people with historical disadvantages, which I think is positive!

I think compensation is generally determined by outputs, not inputs. People are not paid for how hard the work is but rather the value their work creates.

Unfortunately, that’s hard to determine for teachers.

Would you support pay raises for teachers based on academic results of their students?
November 19, 2024 at 11:59 PM
Definitely not! I was just pointing out there is a reason bankers make what they do, and that the industry does provide opportunities to a lot of minorities which I view as a positive.

Bankers can make what they do and we can (and should) also pay teachers more. They aren’t mutually exclusive!
November 19, 2024 at 6:44 AM
So should teachers make more? Should bankers make less?

Wall Street is incredibly selective and challenging and those that make it are rewarded with wealth. And those that make it are increasingly diverse due to great DEI programs.

Should we strip that opportunity away from people?

Who is the other billionaire running DOGE besides Elon?
November 19, 2024 at 4:18 AM
And for what it’s worth, I agree it is warranted to make Pulisic defend his support for Trump. But what I was potentially getting it is, for all we know, Ricardo Pepi could be a Trump supporter too.

We shouldn’t assume he isn’t just because he’s Latino.
November 19, 2024 at 4:13 AM
I’m really not arguing anything. Just asking questions!

I left X (Twitter) to learn and have productive conversations from smart people who also despise Donald Trump and the MAGA movement.

I think my questions were legitimate, but you may disagree which is okay!

Assuming you are primarily referring to Birthright citizenship aka “anchor babies”?

There is a small handful in the USMNT pool that likely fall into that category. Far more that were born (and raised) abroad to American parents.

Has Trump indicated he wants to remove the CRBA? Haven’t heard.
November 19, 2024 at 3:11 AM
Ryan - members of the USMNT must be, at minimum, dual nationals and therefore have a U.S. passport.

Believe me, I’m no Trump supporter, but it seems you’re making assumptions about his teammates political views based on ethnicity alone.

The election showed us a lot of Latino men went for Trump…
November 19, 2024 at 2:23 AM
Do we think white nationalists even deserve rights?

These are the people we should be deporting!
November 17, 2024 at 12:27 AM
Understood. And you don’t believe RFK Jr. will properly handle that responsibility?

As a former conservative, I’m attempting to better educate myself on topics like this (this why I’m here on Bluesky and not X).
November 15, 2024 at 2:05 AM
Melissa - can you help me understand your statement? I’m not following the connection between HHS and deportation.
November 15, 2024 at 1:49 AM
Do we think Trump will attempt to run again in 2028? I have not heard about this so would appreciate some more information.

I can barely take 4 more years, let alone 8!
November 14, 2024 at 7:27 PM
Thanks, Andrew!!

It sounds like it’s just as symbolic as it is health-related, and I probably didn’t realize that before. It’s just as much about the message of safety and inclusion as it is about actual health risks.

Appreciate your perspective! Will pass it along to my community.

Not after you informed me about all of his traffic violations!

Republicans seem to love putting criminals into positions of power.
November 14, 2024 at 3:40 AM
I just learned Matt Geatz has a long history of traffic violations!

So glad I left the Republican Party and so happy to be here on Bluesky

I’m here for it!!
