I’m not sure I understand. First, I’ve lived in Venezuela for many years, know many people and know pretty well the history of what has happened after chavez took office. Secondly, I’m not a Trump supporter, have friends who are, I respect their views and they respect mine.

The ballots are in Panama under the custody of the Panamanian government. Those guys won’t relinquish power pacifically so there’s not much Venezuelans can do by themselves.

Venezuelans decided in 10/2023 to choose Machado as their candidate. Maduro didn’t let her run so Machado passed the mantle to Edmundo González who defeated Maduro in 07/2024 with 67% of the votes. Maduro stole the election but the opposition collected the ballots and they are in Panama.

Agree; however, that’s easier said than done, particularly when you are dealing with very complex situations in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico and let’s not forget China. Something must also be done in the demand side of the chain, but hardly anyone talks about it.

True, Venezuela is not a drug producer but it is part of the supply chain. The Venezuelan branch of the supply chain includes the Colombian guerilla, some members of the Venezuelan army and terrorist organizations of the Middle East.

When I had an account on X, I used to receive many vulgar insults, much worse than yours, because I was perceived as a communist. So I left.
Just this morning I told a friend, a Trump supporter, that he wouldn’t believe if I told him that in Bluesky I was considered a nazi-fascist. 😂

War on drugs is not the point. Machado may be far right, but at least has an ideology and she’s entitled to it. There is no ideology on the other side, just crystal clear crime. If I had to choose between the two I wouldn’t have to think that hard.

After you see for a long time the so called international community and people like you turning a blind eye to what has happened down there you stop believing in many things, until someone, for whatever reasons, does something, which is better than nothing. And I do know what populism is.

It’s not that simple. Many things need to be fixed before thinking about new elections. You have no idea of the degree of destruction, material and moral, that has happened down there.

I personally don’t like either Milei or Netanyahu but prefer either compared to the criminals that have destroyed a country, separated families, tortured/killed who knows how many prisoners. Those folks are tired to see that nothing happens so when anything happens, good or bad, they are happy.
