I program in Java
The amount of hand holding to set up a new user in secure environments and training to get them up and running makes me wonder if they are still setting trump up with the launch codes for the nukes from 2016
This is a good thing
a close up of a woman 's face looking at a man .
Alt: Picture a girl (or a person) witnessing something complex and bewildering. Her face isn't showing anger or fear, but wide-eyed awe mixed with profound disbelief. Her eyebrows are raised, her head might be tilted, and her thoughts are a silent "Wow." This is the look of someone watching an incredibly intricate, high-stakes, and slightly absurd process unfold—like watching a team of specialists delicately assemble a house of cards on a wobbly table, or a Rube Goldberg machine perform a simple task.

Had a conversation with a friend who credited some event in the 1500s between the pope and the king which softened the violence of christianity and that islam needs a similar event. I feel it was enlightenment. It doesn't explain the gap between 1200 and 1700 which I need to consider.

Before women had divorce, they had poison.

I wonder if Emma Smith used Aqua Tofana on her attempts to free herself from Joseph Smith. She had the resources

What is worse, being in a relationship with a narcissist or being in a relationship with a narcissist who refuses to love bomb.

Spent the evening with @kemikemikemi.bsky.social at salt air enjoying the Geminids. It was cloudy in the area of Gemini yet we still witnessed a few nice shooting stars. And she captured the crab nebula and the pleiades.
We saw Jupiter and it's moons along with Saturn. A very successful star party

You really should not attend a church with handicap parking.

No miracles are going on there

Spoiler alert. He dies
December 11, 2025 at 9:44 AM
For most of human history, 1 in 2 children died before the age of 15. Today, the global average is around 4%, one of the greatest improvements humanity has ever achieved. Better nutrition, clean water, sanitation, vaccines, and postnatal care made this possible. Thanks science

I have shared a few videos from @scriptureplus.bsky.social with an Iranian friend. He can see how broken their world views are and how clearly they need to make up stories to maintain their desire to have their mythology make sense. Jasmin is doing wonderful helping people reevaluate their faith

Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel, Disney Animated or Pixar.

If the wages of sin are death, and Jesus overcame death by resurrection and by his sacrifice the wages are paid, why are we still dying? Not a very effective sacrifice, we still die

The tree of life exhibit at Luminaria was interesting, and its mythology-themed statue garden was fun. Still, we shouldn't confuse its charm with the deeper meaning found in our own reality

It is easier to lie to someone then to convince them they have been lied to.

In other words

From painkiller to empathy killer: acetaminophen (paracetamol) reduces empathy for pain
Simulation theories of empathy hypothesize that empathizing with others’ pain shares some common psychological computations with the processing of one’s own pain. Support for this perspective has largely relied on functional neuroimaging evidence of ...

To be the same as last week is stagnation and not embracing the only reality we know we have. Decide today to attempt something different, maybe amazing. Keep the gods guessing at your incredible ability to change and adapt to the wonder that is your existence
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.”

Then you didn’t know me. I wasn’t even me a decade ago. Before I had any thoughts of my own, that wasn’t me.
