"Do Not Open" He saw the wooden plank with this warning etched into it placed neatly on top of the chest. He looked around first to be sure he was alone, then knocked the sign off from atop the chest. Assuming that, because the gold and other treasures lay strewn across the ground, the real objects of value would be hidden away within the large wooden case on the stone pedestal. He pulled tools from his bag and began to fiddle with the keyhole. Managing to pick the lock he was met with a satisfying click followed immediately by the startling sound of the straps pulling and bursting as the chest lid swung open; sounding like 2 whips cracking simultaneously. Before the explorer can process his surprise he finds himself lifted several feet into the air. His feelings of shock quickly become horror as he feels the life being squeezed from him. Just as quickly as the tentacles sprouted from the box, they pulled back in taking their explorer along with them. The sounds of his screaming silenced as the lid slammed shut and only the rushing water from the nearby waterfall filled the cavernous air.
