Sorry, Paul. I know how you feel, seeing the places you love destroyed. The glaciers I grew up with as a kid are gone or much reduced, and the streams are full of giardia, when I could drink from them when I was backpacking as a much younger person.

Also, thank you for mentioning this in a positive way for those of us who survived that kind of family. On the rare occasion when I mention it, most people think I'm some kind of monster. I can spot someone who is likely to be a friend when they are the one in the room who tries to understand.

Eyup. I divorced my entire family and have been happier ever since. It's tough to go it alone. It's much worse to go with a bunch of toxic people.

That's because we don't live in a democracy. 90% percent of the population wants at least some regulation of guns, but the wealthy would rather keep it as a wedge issue to divide the nation. We live in an oligarchy, in the specific form of a plutocracy. Until we burn that down, nothing changes.

Investigate this: If the power provider has to shut down a data center to provide power to everyone else, the data center operator gets paid substantially MORE than the cost of electricity, and the rest of the customers, including ordinary people like me, get to pay for that.
