Going from a man being sued by a monkey and wikipedia to this story was definitely a major vibe switch. Also, the transformation into becoming a horse is terrifying. #bsueng490

The baby is a cyborg... like the cyborg manifesto. The kid's the cyborg and Alexia is, like, the people/generation fighting for the ideals of the cyborg manifesto.... hear me out, hear me out. There's a post feminism reading here, probably. #BSUENG490

oh my gosh the lighting in that scene. The guy has the warm orange light and the protag has the harsh florescent light. #BSUENG490

Id probably recommend The Wonder just because Anna's whole like character arc is so cool. I absolutely the whole psychological side of that book.

I probably wouldn't recommend... Binti? I mean Binti is a really good book I just cant see myself ever recommending a YA sci-fi book. #BSUENG490

"She raises her coffee to her lips and puts it down again without drinking," What a great line, such a tense silence. #BSUENG490

Really appreciate the small attempt at humor with the little introduction paragraph about drinking for writing inspiration. Unfortunately, it didn't make whatever the hell Snake was less disturbing. #BSUENG490

Just as a base level look, its crazy that Binti just like negotiated a peace between two long term enemies. Like, okay girl pop off. Be a negotiator. #BSUENG490

The "mythical norm" as Lorde puts it is such a prevalent actor for societal power structures. On one hand its like the match that starts the fire for most rights movements, but on the other hand it can simplify the whole argument. Really fascinating!

Man, I loved when the author just replaced the word magic with math or fractals. Really cool way to hit the genre of sci-fi. #BSUENG490

WHAT, Capitalism only views things in terms of monetary value and capability to be profitable... no, thats insane! Can't be the case. #BSUENG490

Really loved the part where Asughara showed her love for Ada by making horrible decisions for her... oh wait, that's like the whole book #BSUENG490

The reading had really interesting Absurdist vibes with the whole feminists should be a living """"contradiction"""/cyborg (even though she argues we have made flesh another type of code and machine) and with the whole women having to exist in spaces that actively hate them thing. #BSUENG490

This text brings a real anarchist vibe to the whole gender studies party that I can get behind. This could be my biases speaking though #BSUENG490

Lib really just told Anna to put on one of those pair of glasses and a mustache and she took it to heart. Also sister michael is a real one frfr. #BSUENG490

Lib is slowly going from distanced nurse to a more connected and attached figure, she's always had this conflict but finally the scales are tipping. Also the bit of trying to guess Lib's shortened name is fun.

#bsueng490 While its ~slightly~ unrelated to the texts, I saw a quote from the "Alien" filmwriter Dan O'Brannon that reminded me of the theories we talked about. The quote basically said that his goal in making that film was to make men uncomfortable through the inversion of gender roles and birth.

#bsueng490 The poem of the mermaid and the music was really interesting. Something about the mental change needed to deny ones past culture hits pretty hard.

#bsueng490 "My tear-beslobbered father wanted a rose to show I forgive him. When I break off a stem, I prick my finger and so he gets his rose all smeared with blood." Pop-off queen, hate that guy.
