There will be nothing normal about this summer or, no matter what happens, this fall. Except of course for my normal approach to my sabbatical, to whit: get the hell out of Dodge.

By far and away my most cited paper is one I'm very fond of but that is a complete outlier to my research agenda. Apparently my readership would prefer that I do something else.

The first news of the day I got was that police had been called in. Not on campus these days but that struck me as unwarranted.

This is a great idea. I had exercises but they were not strictly reading focused. And in my text-heavy course I did nothing specific to incentivise reading. Next year!

For someone like me in a discipline in which jurisdiction matters, this would be infuriating. But then, who is in a discipline in which place doesn't matter?

I completely agree! Watches are better than phones for telling time, and look much better on the wrist to boot.
