In fairness, I just looked it up and it wasn’t quite THAT stark. Yeah, he never took her in even after her mother died, but it wasn’t like he denied her or refused to have anything to do with her. I was afraid it was that.

The sheer vileness is just overwhelming sometimes. It can get to be too much to bear. It really can. All you can do is weep with sorrow at the fact that American society is so deteriorated that such horrible people are able to take power.

My issue with that is, some people lump any criticism of the Dems — no matter how reality-based or justified — into the same category as the narcissistic, nihilistic “both sides are the same” slop.
I have great contempt for the Dems. But I have even more contempt for those who sabotage them.

Who are some examples of this? I don’t THINK I follow anyone like that, but one hard lesson the past decade has taught me is that perceptions of empirical reality can be as divergent among the left as they are between the left and the right. 😔

The responsibility for the behavior of that ilk never lay with Sanders. None of that selfish nihilism has ever come from him or from those who supported the platform in earnest. A small but very loud portion of those who latched onto his campaigns are performative frauds who care about nothing.

I’m wondering where I could read up about his naive overwrought enthusiasm from the TT era. I’ve seen very little about his work on those series, and I only recently learned how he was so much more intimately involved with Animaniacs than I’d ever guessed he was.
