Once companies have this as part of their process, they can easily double the price. I work in a mid size company and I can see this wouldn’t be a problem.

A different story is that if they really want to make money, doubling it won’t be enough.

At least in Europe you can pay to increase the quality.

Well at the rate he consumes stuff I don’t think Musk will be around for much longer either.

It is not so much “should” as “Movistar pays to appear on Spanish media and having a Spanish rider in the front page with the Movistar logo”… so they need to sign Spanish and, to some extent Latin American riders, more than, say, Dutch.
May 26, 2025 at 5:44 PM
Movistar cannot sign Ayuso. If there was a chance, they wouldn’t have renewed Mas.

But I believe Bora is a better fit to wind down Roglic dependency in the GCs.

However, all this is talk because he still has a contract for 3 years with UAE and they won’t let him leave I think.
May 26, 2025 at 5:42 PM
Imagine that happening in stage 10? Why would that be OK?

I mean. Losing a GC because of a crash sucks. Any crash. Anywhere. But crashes are unavoidable. We have to accept them and live with them. They are fair game. They have always been and they will always be.
May 25, 2025 at 6:24 AM
Yes, horrible luck. But that is a fall that can happen at any point in time. It can be linked to the parcours or not. And we need to accept it if we want to have a GT with 4000km.
May 25, 2025 at 6:21 AM
No, the sprinters won’t try anything. They know they can’t beat Pogacar or VDP or Van Aert there. They won’t enter the fight, it would be stupid and they have nothing to gain. It will be 80 people fighting for position the first time and a group of 20-30 the other two.
May 25, 2025 at 6:18 AM
That stage will be exciting for sure. Not because of the crashes but because of the hills. It is not a sprinter stage at all and only the GC guys and the Healys will be there.

The only particularity is that it is stage 21 and we assume it doesn’t count but last year there was a TT and it was fine?
May 25, 2025 at 6:14 AM
A rider that has a tendency to crash will never win a GT like a rider that can’t TT, and that is FINE. They can win other things.

I don’t see why the skill of being well positioned or not falling, which is one of the most difficult ones, should not count in the definition of sport.
May 25, 2025 at 6:11 AM
Yesterday wasn’t exciting, but it will make next week more exciting.

Being well positioned like Del Toro is part of the skills needed to win a GT. All stages matter and you need to be focused all the time. This is what makes a GT so special and so difficult.
May 25, 2025 at 6:06 AM
So? It is racing. If nobody loses time, there is no race.

Why is “a GC rider losing time” a problem?

It could be a problem that a rider falls and gets injured, but this can happen any day in any descent.

The outage happened AFTER he came back when it was running normally for months when he was away!

It says more about him than about the company.

Also… it is clear who is responsible for reviewing and who “gets the blame” or “the praise” for how it is used and what comes out of it.
May 23, 2025 at 6:35 PM
Ah. Yes, well, I agree. Sorry I did not see your msg about that.

I do think he is focusing on Ayuso though because he is worried his team won’t be up for the task and needs to be precise in what he does.

But indeed the race could go to any of the current top 10.
May 23, 2025 at 5:31 PM
Well that is with Roglic, but it is just 38 sec with Ayuso and 1:20-ish with Simon and Tiberi.
May 23, 2025 at 5:20 PM
He just needs to lose 1 though…

And if Brexit showed us something positive at all it is that the EU Comission can deliver when given a mandate for a negotiation.
May 23, 2025 at 2:12 PM

May 20, 2025 at 4:59 AM
I don’t know what will happen, but at this point I think it will depend on whether UAE wants to negotiate with him for an exit or not. I think they won’t because, well, there is nothing in it for them and it seems Pogacar is unhappy with him.

But all are just rumours of course.
