It’s not all Gen Zs, but a large proportion is. But I need to decouple that, cos the social media obsession is more to blame.

And half the time the recommendations were a pile of wank. They only do videos on them to get the views. I find most travel influences are so disingenuous, so that should help deinfluence things for me.

Yeah, absolutely. I learnt that on this trip too. Making a big list of cafes, restaurants, temples etc. was all well and good until we got there and there was too much on the list and I’d get FOMO if we didn’t visit them all.

I def had that for Seoul and Tokyo, despite being to both before.

Like, I’m not going to start wearing baggy trousers or grow a mullet. But I always feel like what I’m wearing is dated. It annoys me that I think about it, so I just need to let it go.

I think it’s also influencer culture that grinds my gears the most. Esp. travel influencers.
