I do stuff. Have a kinda big deal job. Use $ from job to buy Legos…and video games. A lot goes to vet bills, too. And shoes. Also have a family, who is not really into Lego. Live in a blue state and appreciate the taxes and crappy weather.

I watched Mamdani’s speech. A crowd representing a cross section of humanity. No bulletproof shield. In NYC. You’d think that maybe there’s something to be said about the stabilizing power of respectful diversity and humility.

Not that it should rise to the level of important news, but I’ve completed all 32 hours of my certification maintenance requirement three days early. Some of the CM experiences were actually useful, too. Go figure.

Walked in on my husband watching 2 Fast 2 Furious and walked out after commenting on the lack of realism when Paul Walker’s charges failed to include anything about unauthorized operation of a moveable bridge over a navigable water. Dude. WTF?

If this life were a movie, a certain someone would decide that in his twilight years, he’s dropping the pretense of no wrongdoing, confesses to his part, and takes down the others, restoring truth to the old chestnut of “no one died when Clinton lied.”

This is my Christmas shirt for today. IYKYK
And there’s commentary in here somewhere about trying to warn people about the need to prioritize transportation infrastructure and how we can cross cryptid harbingers off the list of viable strategies.

Wait…oil is a drug? I mean—it’s killed more people than the fentanyl epidemic but I don’t think this administration does metaphors.
Or are they saying that tanker was filled with liquid meth? If they thought it wasn’t oil, they’d have blown it up so they think it’s filled w oil. I’m so confused.

My instagram feed is suddenly populated by posts by men, and mostly Black men, talking about their pet cats and how they adore them. This is not a complaint.

If you ever told me catching up on my continuing ed credits would make me happy, I’d think you were coming from some alternate reality where Trump was made President. I’m grateful for #planning.org for keeping diversity, equity, LQBTQ history preservation, and climate change front & center.

Hot take, and I mean this positively: “Good Boy” is either a Japanese-style ghost story, or Skinamarink for dogs (but better.) Discuss among yourselves.

So this shutdown ending is what the kids call a Pyrrhic Victory, right? I get confused with the slang.

I fail to understand how good people resigning in protest, allowing them to be replaced by toadies, is a better move than remaining in place and refusing to do bad things (until removed).

So Schumer “rejects” the idea that he’s out of touch? His arrogant opinion is irrelevant. There isn’t a more obvious statement than that a 74 year old doesn’t have their finger on the pulse, just like how no Gen-Xer can wrap our brains around 6-7. He didn’t back the people’s choice. He needs to go.

My sense of impending doom is relieved enough at the moment to allow me to express my feelings about gas powered leaf blowers. I hate them. Like, really hate them. Is there a word for road rage that isn’t about drivers but leaf blowers? I feel that word right now.

I see the big victories last night as referendums on decency and empathy. Whether these new leaders can accomplish what they set out to do remains to be seen but that just saying that people deserve to be treated kindly was enough to get these results…I have hope that we’re not actually lost yet.

As I laced up my Chucks to go on a chilly walk to school to vote this morning, I actually paused to think if maybe I’d be better off driving than walking on the wooded path, not because of bears, but because of the risks of angry people. I hate that that thought even occurred to me.

Seeing a post about the progress of a baseball game in between one post about escaped COVID monkeys and another about DOD political firings has the same effect as a poorly timed cut to a State Farm commercial in the middle of a high stakes scene on a lower-tier streaming service.

Look, I get that we’re turning the US into a Westworld-like amusement park of 1980’s pop culture, what with Miami Vice, Delta Force, and Escape from NY all informing public policy, but the Chevron thing is too much of a deep cut to be intentional. You know he never saw Blade Runner.

9/30/25 on the verge of a shutdown is not the *^#!!* time for a mandatory update that reminds me that I should “close all open programs and remember to save your work!” SMDH. I can’t even get upset about this anymore.

It feels like we should be able to live somewhere without fear of being killed, jailed, or at all abused for just going about our lives, being ourselves, enjoying what we like, and passing on what we don’t.

I was in Portland for a conference. One night, on the street car/trolly thing heading back to the hotel, a group of teens boarded and were being loudish, but not jerky. A homeless man boards at the next stop and starts making his way through the car panhandling. He gets to the kids.

Not sure if someone already shared this, but… my professional association sent an FYI that USDOT is pulling funding for multimodal transportation projects in a few states and reprioritizing to efforts aimed at improving personal auto travel. *sigh*
15 years of my career was all about transportation

Saw a WaPo headline about how parents are upset cuz their kids saw the unedited shooting. Well, uh…that’s what one rifle shot to the neck looks like, kids. Now you know why some folks want powerful guns banned.

I had to settle a debate on asphalt specs, which led to a pun that none of the engineers got (“we’ll do what they say so if there’s an issue it’ll be their asphalt.”) This made me think of pavement cracks & now I have Californication as an ear worm, evicting the labubu song. thank you asphalt.
