Not that it should rise to the level of important news, but I’ve completed all 32 hours of my certification maintenance requirement three days early. Some of the CM experiences were actually useful, too. Go figure.

So Schumer “rejects” the idea that he’s out of touch? His arrogant opinion is irrelevant. There isn’t a more obvious statement than that a 74 year old doesn’t have their finger on the pulse, just like how no Gen-Xer can wrap our brains around 6-7. He didn’t back the people’s choice. He needs to go.

My sense of impending doom is relieved enough at the moment to allow me to express my feelings about gas powered leaf blowers. I hate them. Like, really hate them. Is there a word for road rage that isn’t about drivers but leaf blowers? I feel that word right now.

I see the big victories last night as referendums on decency and empathy. Whether these new leaders can accomplish what they set out to do remains to be seen but that just saying that people deserve to be treated kindly was enough to get these results…I have hope that we’re not actually lost yet.

As I laced up my Chucks to go on a chilly walk to school to vote this morning, I actually paused to think if maybe I’d be better off driving than walking on the wooded path, not because of bears, but because of the risks of angry people. I hate that that thought even occurred to me.

I was in Portland for a conference. One night, on the street car/trolly thing heading back to the hotel, a group of teens boarded and were being loudish, but not jerky. A homeless man boards at the next stop and starts making his way through the car panhandling. He gets to the kids.

Not sure if someone already shared this, but… my professional association sent an FYI that USDOT is pulling funding for multimodal transportation projects in a few states and reprioritizing to efforts aimed at improving personal auto travel. *sigh*

I had to settle a debate on asphalt specs, which led to a pun that none of the engineers got (“we’ll do what they say so if there’s an issue it’ll be their asphalt.”) This made me think of pavement cracks & now I have Californication as an ear worm, evicting the labubu song. thank you asphalt.
