I really don't know. Nobody knows. When you subtract 300 from 800 you have a different company.

Why didh't he start the killing right away? There was a stretch during Trump's first presidency where the Post almost out-performed the Times. All part of the plan?

My own view is that it has to be both. Rich understanding of the users and what they expect, and great journalism that informs people of what they didn't know.

I think it's fair to say that he was hired to be some kind of "tough guy," who didn't care about being disliked, and who would bring the newsroom the bitter news. “People aren't reading your stuff,” he told them. You're failing Digital 101.
