I compete in some fighting games and TCGs.

Here, I may talk about these topics, Nintendo stuff and also shows I've been watching.

This is a personal account, so don't expect anything fancy.

EN/日本語/PT/ES = OK

Pleased to meet you
Happy New Year!

I hope everyone enjoyed the festivities and that your goals and wishes for this year come true.

December was a good month to rest, but now, in January, the action starts again. Let's give it our best! 🥂

On February 13, Riftbound will release its second set, Spirit Forged.

And Digimon will release EX11, Dawn of Liberator.

Oh, and Flesh & Blood will release Compendium of Rathe.

These companies are aggressively targeting February 14th, huh.

Apparently, gaming is abandoning the saturated trend of "emotionally broken old man protecting pure kid in hostile world" (The Last of Us, God of War, Telltale's The Walking Dead, etc) now in favor of "cool single uncle" (Ryu ga Gotoku, Biohazard, etc).

I'd like Nintendo to release a controller for Switch 2 that allows for a screen on the controller.

That way, it'd be more viable to port some games from DS, 3DS, Wii U, and mobile (and maybe a built-in microphone, 'cause of Phantom Hourglass / Spirit Tracks).

An update on this:

-> I played in this tournament last week and got 2nd place (8 players). This week again and came in 1-3 (16 players).

-> I completed my Control Bishop deck. I also built a Spellboost Witch and an Aggro Royal.

-> These interactions with WB rekindled my enthusiasm for Evolve!
At the same time, maybe that would be asking too much of someone who has only been playing for a week.

I heard they're having a Lobby Tournament this weekend. From what I understand, it's similar to the weekly tournaments for physical TCGs. I'm going to give that a fair shot too!

An update on this:

-> In the end, I decided to go with Teemo, Ahri, and Annie! I've been considering to build Jinx and Viktor later;

-> Next competition will be "Road to Nationals" (Flesh & Blood) in January, and after some thought I've already put together the deck I'll be using;
Pro Quest and Regionals have ended, so I was hoping to rest until the end of the year, but then we have Riftbound.

Riot has been very kind with gifts and attention, so it's hard to refuse at this point.

Since this is all somewhat unexpected, I have a few days to think of a decent deck.

I've been playing "Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond" a lot this past week (about 100 hours).

I'm only one card missing to finish my first ideal deck, and still I managed to qualify for Stage 2 of the Unite & Fight Cup. 🎉

Unfortunately, I didn't perform well enough to qualify for the Final Stage.

Some time ago, when asked about Xenoblade Chronicles X on Switch, Monolith Software said it wouldn't be feasible/possible.

Today, not only is the game available on Switch (and has sold well), but it's also compatible with Switch 2.

One of the most beautiful games on Wii U is now on Switch 2!

When visiting Japan, most people focus on Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka.

It'd be nice if more people paid attention to Yokohama, since it's not that far away and has a lot of cultural relevance as well.

With more events happening there, maybe that will change in the coming decades.

The initial proposal for the Living Legend format was to be a format in which the true power of Flesh & Blood could be admired and enjoyed.

However, with the intention of making it part of Worlds, LSS attempted to make the format more balanced, turning it into a "Classic Constructed II". Hey!

A few weeks ago, autumn began in Japan. This year, it seems nature has decided to skip this season altogether, and the weather is already like winter.

I wonder if in a few years the entire planet will only have summer and winter. Or if there will be any difference for when the cherry trees bloom.

I did rewatch Better Call Saul a few weeks ago, and Kim Wexler is the MVP in that series.

In my memory, Tuco had a bigger role, but it's just his shadow running through the entire series.

This time I was a bit sad about Howard's situation, maybe this time I paid more attention to that character.

In TCGs or fighting games, there are times I make a mistake, I'm not punished by my opponent, and I win the game.

After that, I feel a little guilty, as if that victory wasn't deserved 'cause I know I made a mistake, I wasn't punished, and the result could've been different.

I'm ready for Pro Quest Yokohama next month, now with only a few matches left to confirm match-up notes.

What worries me is that this will be after the release of Super Slam, so out of nowhere any of these new heroes could completely change the meta.

An update on this:

- Yasuo is simple and excellent in multiplayer mode, Viktor is versatile, and Teemo has potential;

- I wouldn't recommend Jinx for TCG beginners. But for those who are experienced in her type of strategy, and daring enough to play risky, she can do some pretty wild things;
Last night my test group started trying Riftbound, that League of Legends TCG.

Even though we're 3 months away from the release, Riot have revealed enough card to start shaping some archetypes.

As initial impression, I must say Ahri, Lee Sin, Viktor, Volibear and Jinx are quite good.

For music and movies, we can see physical media (LPs, 4k discs) having its place today as "the best experience, sought after by enthusiasts".

Now, I wonder if gaming will have a similar parallel in the future when digital becomes near 100% of market and game discs become truly vintage.

GenCon and EVO in the same weekend is really exhausting.

And I've been seeing more nerd stuff events in Brazil, so I have no doubt that in 1~2 years there will be a weekend with two big events at same time, just like this GenCon/EVO thing.

It's fun and nice, maybe I had this energy 15 years ago.

I find it often funny how you watch a single video outside your usual habits and YouTube will start recommending EVERYTHING related to that new topic as if you've became a super fan now.

Did you watch a recipe video? You're master chef now
Did you watch a sports video? Enjoy pro league highlights

Watching from distance, Yu-Gi-Oh folks seem to be in a toxic relationship with Konami.

The players love the game and can't let it go. Meanwhile, Konami make use of their emotional attachment to apply some "funny" practices, such as recent Time Wizard rule changes and product release schedule.

And we're about 3 weeks away from this year's EVO.

Since we had Evo Japan not long ago, it feels like "it's too short of a time" to get another event, but I do like how Sony allowed Evo folks to spread to other regions.

One funny thing I noticed while playing One Piece TCG regularly in my region is that most players had never read/watched One Piece.

They say they'll do it, but some have been saying this for 1~2 years.

Netflix really doesn't want to let Squid Game reach an end.

I don't doubt Stranger Things, in a few weeks, has a "surprise cameo" at end to try to extend the world/story.

So, in Digimon TCG there is this deck "Beelzemon".

Their entire thing is to self-mill, throw its own deck at the trash pile, and then digivolve from trash and play things from there, all that jazz.

It's quite powerful, it's like having 30+ cards at your disposal at any moment.
