Hey there hi there ho there - we're doing intros?

I'm Jay. Long ago I was a Jungle Cruise skipper at Disneyland. Today I'm a gamedev at Respawn Entertainment.

I have 3 cats - Togepi, Moo, and Mothman.

My hobbies are various tech-y things, working on my tiki bar, and my N-Scale model railroad!

Sometimes you got other kinks too, like untagged inflated diaper furry porn. It's miserable and thankfully I found a blocklist that got most of the offenders already

Easter was April 20 in 2025 and will be April 6 in 2026. March/April always have weird crowd patterns because the timing of Easter/spring break differs year over year.

Disney's internal metrics also fall apart every year around that time; they always overestimate or underestimate expected crowds

So we started going to Knott's instead, which I always said we'd start to do as a joke but then we started going unironically. And we just do the exact same thing - walk in a circle, ride nothing, sit on a bench, and eat a corn dog. But it's so much cheaper!

So now I am unironically Knotts-pilled

Even then, we would go just to sit there and hang out. The lines would be too long for every ride so we'd just like walk in a circle and sit on a bench for a bit, then buy a corn dog and leave. Which was nice but then we were like "was this worth $300 + parking"?

Honestly, when my fiance and I stopped working in the parks and stopped being able to get in for free there was that moment of "But we've ALWAYS been able to get in! We need a pass!"

But then we got sticker shock and agreed to just buy tickets when needed. Turns out we only go like 1-2 times a year

Really all bans do is encourage you to cycle accounts. My Reddit account is old enough to drive and there are places I still can't post in because I made some powermod angry 10 years ago.

If I just got a fresh account every year, it would circumvent my problem and Reddit could claim +1 DAU

I think you do need some fuzziness in policies because otherwise people will go right up to the letter of the rules while breaking the spirit, and that kind of abuse should be bannable.

But ANY kind of ban should have some form of justification behind it beyond "I don't like you/agree with you"

Yeah, I used to mod a million-user subreddit and shadowbans were great because ban evaders had no idea they were shadowbanned.

The issue is when you get shadowbanned without breaking any rules. Like I got shadowbanned from a big subreddit because I called out a mod. That's not right IMO

Haha, I was about to mention that I was at the Gardenwalk the other day and noticed that the max-charge "lost ticket" price for the Gardenwalk was $5 cheaper than parking in a Disney lot, and it's only like a block of walking (I parked in the CM lot across the street all the time)

Note how they never once question THEIR support for him, nor do they think about how if maybe they didn't vote for him then he won't win the primary (and thus they won't need to worry about him losing the general)

Had a dream about a mafia/werewolf type game where there's secret arsonists trying to burn down a house and now picking apart the game design in my head.

I was town and just tried to set the arsonist's kindling alight outside. I'm pretty sure that just breaks the game but I woke up too early to see
