I was reading that in NHS workers the take up is only around 50% which is amazing. If the NHS can't persuade its own staff, then what is the world coming to.

I'd love to know the maths behind a decision not to offer it free to the entire population.

I just want to know what the cost benefit analysis is of this change. Why did we make it harder for over 50s to get vaccinated? Presumably because we costed it and thought it saved money. I find that surprising but I guess the professionals know what they are doing.

A few years ago, any over 50s could walk into a pharmacy and get a flu vaccine for free. This is no longer possible. I don't understand why flu vaccines are not administered more widely. What cost benefit analysis leads to today's crisis?

But not progressive enough is the point. Also, this is politics. What did you expect him to say?

That's such a strange attitude. Why is it different when abroad?

I guess you already gave up foreign travel and now you won't even be able to take holidays in your own country

The relief is actually greater if you account for NI, including employer NI

I'd like to see some proper research into the impact of the scheme over the years. Maybe it exists and I've not seen it...

And then there's the people who buy multiple bikes, I've had colleagues get road bike, mountain bike, gravel bike etc. They aren't breaking rules but it feels wrong. I feel there should be a better way to help people ride bikes who otherwise struggle to. Giving tax relief at 40% or 45% feels wrong.
November 18, 2025 at 5:44 PM
The scheme at present offers large tax savings for people who buy very expensive bikes that are not used for commuting. Clearly it would be bad to throw the baby out with the bath water, but the current situation is quite unfair in my view.

Ironically though, the train I am on now I connected to, and since it was running late, but is earlier than my timetabled connection, I will be arriving early. Does this mean that the train operator can claim money from me?
November 15, 2025 at 5:55 PM
Sometimes on a return ticket you can get full price refunded on both legs and it ends up that you get paid to travel. Bonkers.
