For this silly trip, I brought along a segment of line and one evening, opted to tie a bottle sling around the neck. Not the best knot, sucks for cylinders, but useful in that it can be tied around most water bottles in Europe.
Particularly useful is that it tightens from the “handle” loops.

So, if you know Cyrillic type (Russian, Ukrainian, and others), there’s a cursive (hand scribe…) of the type you’re familiar with.
It’s a bit like that. Easy confusion of f, s, b, h, and so on.

My other go to is a first generation GoRuck GR1. Less decorated, but also heavily used.
It‘s been used to commute, carried 20kg of bricks for an endurance event, and also traveled to multiple countries. It’s the bag that made me appreciate the Molle system.
