This exquisite gold ring was discovered by archaeologists during excavations at Sandal Castle in the 1960s. Small enough to sit lightly on a finger, yet powerful enough to carry a declaration of devotion across five centuries, it remains one of the most romantic objects in Wakefield

@dj-acid-reflux.bsky.social Can't really describe all the gifts 'Everything Will Swallow You' gave me. However, even though I abandoned the lawn for wilderness, I will hit the allotment playing air strimmer with 'Mowing The Lawn' blasting through my headphones. Best tribute I can come up with.

@ww2historygal.bsky.social After following the season for months from a far, I keenly await the Super Bowl kick off!

@ww2historygal.bsky.social With all the terrifying Trump nonsense going off I thought I'd escape for a couple of hours with a classic Sci-Fi movie. Then I remembered that the aliens always land in the US and say "Take me to your leader".

I think I'd try to palm them off with Taylor Swift.

@ww2historygal.bsky.social I know there are so many acts of buffoonery to choose from but Trump going to Switzerland, where over 60% of people speak German and, to say if it wasn't for the US you'd all be speaking German right now is surely one of his greatest.

@ww2historygal.bsky.social Loved hearing about Slicks' Christmas Tree Adventures! I dread to think about what Thora Super Husky will come up with this year! It's nice to have some company when we've both been sent to the garden though!

@ww2historygal.bsky.social It's priceless now, they've got Trump, Sheinbaum and Carney lined up like they're in a dodgy gameshow! I wish you could get our commentary, it's an hilarious miss take on the BBC!!

@ww2historygal.bsky.social As a personal aside during all the years I played football I had to accept living with mysteriously becoming 'Johnny'. I learned to accept it as a quirk of football.

@ww2historygal.bsky.social I just watched a video about the history of blackcurrants in the U.S. Is it true you don't have Ribena and blackcurrant jam everywhere you shop? Having patches of purplish blackcurrant skin is pretty much a stage of childhood here.

You've got to admit that funnelling a billion through the BBC to our inside man at the White House to complete our 1812 renovation plans, disguised as a ballroom, could only have come from the land of the Bond villain.

That type of long term plan needs a nation with thousands of years of history.
