Retro-hardware aficionado.
I tried it some years ago after DECADES of internet hype (McDonalds never released it here in Europe, as far as I know) in the UK. I was super excited to finally taste it, only to find out it was mid at best. What a letdown

Nice, great job!

I hope that someone will port nukeykt’s Nuked-SC55 emulator to it. Then it would be the almost-ultimate MIDI machine (only missing Yamaha XG). Sadly it seems that the only one capable of further developing the bare metal kernel was the original author which has distanced itself from the project…

It’s great being able to *read* a Top 10 list in this day and age and not have to WATCH a 20 minutes video instead!

I had the same thing on my living room, all my consoles were in a Kallax next to the TV. I had to put them in storage to make space for some new Kallax boxes (now filled with toys). I think I will wait a few more years then will start from the classics - the Nintendo NES sounds like a good bet.

Sorry to hear that mate, I hope things will be better soon. I know the feeling, I became a dad as well some months before you did! Very draining and I had to shelve all my retro stuff (haven’t touched anything in months!) but it’s all worth it.

Oh so you actually contacted oerg866 as I suggested some time ago? Great. He’s a great guy and I am sure he will be able to fix most of this stuff

Did you find someone willing to look at these things?

Loved Sea Dogs as a kid. Arrrrrr! 🏴‍☠️

Hehe, same here. What a timeless classic. Loved playing it in co-op with my cousins!

Yes but it would’ve taken weeks and probably cost a third of the entire PC. That’s how things were back then. Often it was cheaper AND faster to replace entire parts of the computer if a vendor-specific part broke. Your front USB ports broke? Well, pal… you’re getting AN ENTIRE NEW CASE FOR YOUR PC

So I did the next best thing - got an ATX PSU with LONG cables and put it on the top of the Shuttle, sitting there with cables entering the PC from where the old PSU was. But it worked, and that was the only thing that mattered to the customer. I know he kept using it that way for a long time! 2/2

When I was younger and I had just started working in IT, one of these things came in. The owner wanted to keep it working for another few years before getting a new pc. I tried getting a Flex ATX PSU, but no suppliers had one available. This was before Amazon, and eBay was mainly for used stuff. 1/2

We’re waiting 👀

Saw the same thing! Did I miss some Shuttlecember event or something?

I was unlucky enough to downgrade from a Radeon 9600XT AGP to this PoS card since my new PC didn’t have an AGP slot (only PCIe) and this thing came with it. Was stuck with it for months/years and hated every minute of it. The “TurboCache” thing was a sham and it made the 6200TC slow as molasses.

Honestly I applaud the effort - most people would’ve just told the customer to trash the PC and build a new one. This guy showed some real dedication to fixing this Shuttle!

Didn’t see many with VLB *and* PCI. Actually I think they were kinda rare? I remember also reading something about them being very buggy

I was so disappointed by this scene that I had to go back and double-check that they had really put Arcade GnG in place of the NES version
November 30, 2025 at 12:23 PM
Yeah, found out that my issues (especially when desoldering a BIG-ASS PLCC like Amiga’s Super Buster 11) came from my cheapo hot-air soldering station. After I splurged on one of those fancy ones everyone talked about, PLCCs came out with no efforts. Also having a pre-heater really helps, apparently

Loved the shareware version of “Pac-Guy 2, Part 2: Pagoon” when I was a kid. Didn’t know at the time that the game was a spoof of Ultima VIII, that makes it even better in hindsight! Fun trivia: the first level uses a MIDI rendition of “Dieci Ragazze” from celebrated Italian singer Lucio Battisti.

Wait, what did he do? Never heard anything about this before
November 27, 2025 at 9:55 PM
Weird. The Italian dub (original voiceover?) didn’t have any of those over the top jokes. It was just all harmless “violence” and the gritty charm of Bud and Terence. Clearly the storylines won’t win any prizes, but they are very entertaining movies, especially for tweens.
November 25, 2025 at 10:25 PM
Ah, wanted to play this one! Bud Spencer and Terence Hill were HUGE in Germany and Italy in the 80s/90s and they’re the stuff of legend for us European millennials. If you wish to see what’s the fuss all about, a good starter point is probably the first “They Call Me Trinity” movie.
November 25, 2025 at 8:48 PM
Yeah, bought them because I only have one working right now and I want to experience the V2 SLI dream but I will never spend the crazy amounts of money people are asking for a working V2 these days 🤡 (even if prices have started to come down a bit lately)
