Speaking of props: hungry monster in a metal box, Tootsie Rolls, and a feeding orientation with reader @jbkish.bsky.social! Our talented performers had our audience engrossed and laughing. No audience members were eaten by the monster during the orientation.

I tell all of my clients that their novel is a product and products don't get built without a plan. That's not a very sexy way to approach writing, but it is a guaranteed way to finish. Great advice here from Emma Dhesi

The writing community in this city is so impressive. Some nights I can’t believe I get to hang out with these people.

If you’re in PDX, you gotta check out the Columbia Gorge Model Railroad Club. They’re only open a few weekends out of the year! If I refer enough people they will shrink me down and let me stay!

I have spent *a lot* of time this week writing a character that walks like Bob from Schitt's Creek. Maybe the most fun I've had with language in years.

I recently came across the Polish artist Zdzisław Beksiński and I'm learning more about his work and its focus on introspection and the subconscious. These are a couple pieces I love so far - especially his landscapes. The floating monoliths remind me of The Fifth Season by @nkjemisin.bsky.social

you know what they say, leave them wanting more so they can't kill you immediately and eat you and instead will imprison you and keep you alive to tell more stories, that old saying

My wife and I watched Alien and Aliens this weekend. Then I bought Aliens: Vasquez by V. Castro. I cannot and will not be stopped.

Writers! On FEB 26 I'm leading an online workshop for the Horror Writers Association on author roadmapping! It's an actionable way to identify your goals and articulate the exact steps necessary to achieve them. This is about getting specific! I'd love to hang out with you. shorturl.at/oxFHN

As a kid, I used to lay my clothes out before bed. I'd arrange them on the floor like I was there one moment, then—poof—gone the next. Jesus Christ. Anyway, I like to write scary stories now.
