100% Devs deserve to & should get paid more. But I don't think anyone expects (in late stage capitalism) AAA publishers to actually pass the extra revenue from increased games prices on to Devs in any way. And I don't think that complaints gamers have about feeling ripped off are invalid

Sorry isn't that your point? That people shouldn't be complaining about $80 games being unfair because PS1 games were $100+ (adjusted for inflation)

This is exactly my point. It's not a fair comparison. If we are talking budgets should we also compare the average household disposable income? Or how much profit the most successful AAA games make today vs back then.

PS1 games didn't come with micro transactions, an online paid subscription service or battle passes to milk players post launch. They also had to spend vastly more on physical production and international shipping and distribution instead of pushing a file to a few digital storefronts

Apologies for the late response. I'm bringing a card game I have developed to pitch to publishers. I am happy to send you some details through if you would like - what would be the best way and what information would you need from me?

Hi. I was wondering if you are looking for games that are available for retail or are you also looking for games that are developed but currently unpublished also

Thanks :)

I'm a visual person so it might not work for you but you could try ven diagraming it out to find exactly where your game fits. Something like this

Also Adam in Wales did a YouTube video about exactly this with some good advice - youtu.be/Ow2FDl2yiPU?...

Good luck 🤞

Maybe breaking it down would help? Start by looking at parameters with your designs that are common across all games. Player count, weight/complexity, theme, mechanics, art style etc. These often alone will indicate the audience and where the crossover is with existing titles in the market
