An epiphany:

The manufactured drama of blowing-up -drug-boats-in-the-caribbean may be related to seeking access to Venezuelan oil, but more importantly distracts from what is going on in Ukraine. Turning US foreign policy upside down. Pleasing Putin may lead to WW3. Is it too late?

Prove me wrong.

Two things:

The destruction of the White House East Wing is a metaphor for what Trump is doing to the nation at large;

and apparently the son of Nikki Haley (yes, that Nikki Haley) is disparaging immigration as a positive influence. No understanding of the big picture. My heart breaks for her.

Just watched Firing Line where Margaret Hoover interviewed Audrey Tang, a trans woman who is Taiwan's Minister of Digital Affairs and an ambassador-at-large. She made more sense talking about how to make social media constructive rather than destructive of democracy than anyone I've heard. See it !!

MAGA is trying to canonize Charlie Kirk. Okay, this can be facilitated by a Democrat reading into the Congressional Record a selection of his sayings, such as that a pregnant 10 yr old should carry to term, a few deaths are the price for the 2nd Amendment, etc. Full attribution of dates, places etc.
September 24, 2025 at 6:49 PM
Charlie Kirk famously said that a few deaths from guns is the price we have to pay for having the 2nd Amendment. I guess he didn't think that logic applied to him.
Now would be a good time for Dems to introduce the "Charlie Kirk Responsible Regulation of Gun Ownership Act". But no overreach, please.

Russia has clearly sent a fleet of drones to Poland as a test of the solidity of NATO. This is a serious matter. Donald Trump is not a serious man. If he does not find a way to be a serious man, and soon, we are all in serious trouble.

So, Pete Hegseth has cancelled the anti-woke Command Assessment Program, calling it "woke". The obvious conclusion is that he doesn't think he could pass it. QED.

So, the Epstein files are a "Democrat hoax" ? Yeah, he's in there.
September 4, 2025 at 12:31 AM
I just watched Elissa Slotkin on Firing Line with Margaret Hoover. She has more integrity and courage than all the Republican lawmakers put together. If she wants the job, and the Democrats don't seriously put her forward, they will have their heads up their collective asses.

I should not be surprised that politicians are hypocritical, so the fact that Vladimir Putin criticized us for raining missiles down on a sovereign nation, while at the same time doing that very thing to Ukraine, is only what we should expect.
June 26, 2025 at 3:14 AM
Did anyone else notice that in the press conference today, Hegseth tried to impress everyone with the intensity of the attack on Iran by saying that the B-2s dropped 12 bunker-buster bombs, whereas it was actually 14 ?
This dude is really out of his depth.
June 26, 2025 at 3:09 AM
I should mention that MAGAts think that they are the winners and therefore will get to write history. It is not going to work that way. Sycophants at all levels will eventually be tagged with the truth.

There will be some actual benefits from this convulsive process amongst the unnecessary pain.

As an example of the damage to US soft power done by emasculating USAID, the PEPFAR initiative is being torpedoed. This was GWB's baby, and now would be a great time for him to speak up. Please!
BTW, the "Big Beautiful Bill" is just a device to force crap through without real debate. Grow a spine!

An amazing video about Ukrainian women and their strength.

Repost if you still stand with Ukraine!

SCOTUS should very publicly tell POTUS that depriving a person of their constitutional rights in defiance of a court order (or many other things) can be considered as not "official acts" but rather as "high crimes and misdemeanors".

How could I have missed this? Elon and Donald are using the system of Dr. Tarr and Professor Feather. Surely all will be well now.
Not.

I say this as an independent who has voted Republican more often than Democratic: Democrats have to sharpen their elbows and quickly respond to any claim of a Trump mandate by reminding them that he only got a narrow plurality and not a majority. Nowhere near a mandate to reconfigure government.

I know this is not an exact parallel, but what Trump is doing with the stock market reminds me of what Auric Goldfinger tried to do with the gold market. Is anyone watching for insider trading? Just asking.

My dream scenario: George W. Bush, flanked by Barack Obama, pops in on a session of Congress. He delivers a surprisingly eloquent description of recent events, followed by a reminder that history will record the role that each of them has in cowardly acquiescing to fascist rule by incompetents.🙏
April 9, 2025 at 7:17 PM
Headline: "Junior officer selected to overseer US Foreign Service". Of course. It is the Russian way - always appoint incompetents to your bureaucracy so you never have to worry about them defying or overthrowing you. Lincoln had his "team of rivals". Trump has his "team of sycophants".

So Speaker Johnson opposes proxy voting because he thinks it is unconstitutional. Strange. He seems to have no trouble with bending the Constitution to serve the "Trump agenda".

"Republican" lawmakers are very uncomfortable with Elon Musk running his mouth off. This is because he is saying the quiet part out loud, and the frogs haven't boiled quite long enough yet.

I would like to see the results of the following survey:

1) Are you a registered voter?
If yes, then:
2) Did you vote in the 2025 presidential election?
If no, then:
3) Given today's situation, who would you vote for now?
4) Will you vote in the 2026 and 2028 elections?
March 25, 2025 at 9:14 PM
When you see Justices Barrett and Roberts being lit up on X for doing their job and upholding the separation of powers, instead of following Trump's agenda, you are seeing full fascist mode. And not being self-aware, they can't see it.
