Red October > Crimson Tide for me. :-) It has three of my favorite Movie Men As A Straight Guy(™) in it - JEJ, Connery, and Scott Glenn.

That movie is one of my favorite "I MUST WATCH A MAN FILM!" indulgences, and my only regrets are a) they didn't make more and b) I am not a fan of Bettany's Maturin, he wasn't grim, dark and pinched enough.
