I'd say the rule should be "don't obsess about whether 14 year olds playing amateur field hockey for fun have XX or XY chromosomes".

For high-level competitive sports (NCAA, Olympics, etc.) actual experts have created rules to govern trans participation. You can read them if you're so interested.
