This is kind of silly stupid, even for a Pitt guy (like me). We know, based on data from other countries and Medicare in the U.S., that single-payor on a national level is massively more efficient than private insurance and results in better health outcomes. You can’t assess this on a state level.

Flat out wrong on point 2- inflation was on a definite sub-3 decline late last year, and who knows what the fuck the actual number is now but it is higher than 2.9 with housing included and prices on a nominal level are much higher than they were last year.

And how far off (with GOP bias) were most pollsters on the recent elections? Most were outside the MOE—correct? Especially in VA, NJ and PA (not so much in NYC).

For anecdotes on the tariff lag, I know a lot of businesses that bought a shit-ton of Chinese and foreign goods in December and early January to avoid the tariffs. Many bought enough to carry them through 6-12 months. I’d expect the transition to higher-tariffed goods to begin next month.

Aren’t CPI numbers laggy on a generalized basis? And then you add the lag factor for tariffs on top of that and it would seem to me that we won’t see much of the tariff component in the CPI for at least another month or two.
