The conventional wisdom has always been that when the Republicans cause a government shutdown, they pay the price at the ballot box. Well, I don’t see that they are suffering politically at this point in time. So what have the Democrats got to lose by shutting the government down?

This tone of this report really annoys me. It’s so typical of the NYT. Similar reports throughout the past year would have been followed by pessimistic talk of the impending recession. It’s interesting how that’s changed since the election.
