Saw this handsome fellow in our local stream near Stevenage yesterday. Google says he's a mandarin duck, and he's definitely a looker.

@mmasnick.bsky.social cool post for two reasons:
1) always like to hear about interesting things people are building and learning, even if (especially if) they make me question my priors
2) disabling replies and quote posts is pretty powerful, I had never seen that done before. Like a 1-way mirror

Maybe Gemini should listen to Google search results more. Although I noticed when I search for this exact same phrase in Google, I don't get an AI response there either.

Saw this incredible piece of sculpture at Chatsworth House in Devonshire:
A veiled Vestal Virgin
Raffaelle Monti (1818–1881), marble, 1846–1847

Doesn't seem to matter that this is marble, you can totally see details of the face behind the veil. Stunning.

I have to say I don't have nearly this level of confidence in the normal system of checks and balances. I've never wished more to be proven wrong, but this is exactly what worries me the most.

I think this is broadly right. One of my colleagues at work today was explaining why they were so excited about Trump winning, and all I could think was the power to vote is wasted on this person.

This is the complete opposite of what I would expect. 67% of probable Trump voters say climate change is a major problem?

Looks okay to me. I'll keep playing around with this.

I've noticed this for the past few weeks. I use the Android app and have never tried the website, but I'll try that in a few minutes and see if it's the same. In my Following feed just now, the first item that shows up from News is the Euractiv post, but the next two are attached as screenshots.

Found in All Saints Church in Hertford, UK, this Table of Kindred and Affinity lists all the people you're related to whom you shouldn't marry. Just in case you were wondering if hooking up with your wife's granddaughter or husband's father's brother was okay in the eyes of the church and the law.
