Agreed. Thucydides records the classic “Might is right” argument in the Melian dialogue. But things did not turn out so well for the Athenians, who made the claim.

I’m not sure . It looks as if the problem is not that the cars were powered by electricity but that the autonomous driving system did not cope with a blackout. Electric motors have for a long time powered trams, trains and elevators- the safest and most reliable modes of transport ever created.

If only it were that simple. The dead and dying would include their neighbors, the workers who install it, the families of the workers whose work clothes are washed and dried at home, subsequent owners of the house, people doing repairs on or demolition of the house, and on and on …

There you have it one paragraph- a stunning portrait of political decay. If was just the decadence of a party it would one thing. But it is hard to avoid the conclusion that it is the decadence of a very large part of the country.
