No one is stunned or even a little bit surprised

It's not slobbery. We know it will be slave wages. The era of union factory jobs you can raise a family on is over abd the oligarchs won't let it come back.

Don't talk like this. This is the kind of thing he would say

People in your comments seem to think the govt would open again at some point. No one is going to swoop in and save us. You shut down the govt and Trump et al will have exactly what they want - the opportunity to reform it under his rule with most of it eliminated to never come back

Starting to feel this from elements of the left as well. The people who wanted to force a shutdown believe the country never worked for them anyway and are fine with helping Trump accelerate its destruction. I can't imagine how they think good will come from that. Naive or shortsighted.

What are the legalities of what Musk is doing? What action can be taken?

And this level of maturity is why we have a fascist in the white house now. Enjoy your future.

Destroying it is not the way. Recognize that we all want a better world and your ideas on what that means are not due special privilege. The way you keep trying to undermine Trump's opposition makes me wonder if you're a paid plant.

You brought up the numbers

Every life is infinitely precious. Why are you picking and choosing some to be more important than others?
February 3, 2025 at 1:00 AM
The democrats staying too moderate for you is a purity test. Not left enough, not radical enough. Hey, I'm practically a socialist but I believe in democracy which means compromise. Throwing out the whole system and letting in the fascists is incredibly shortsighted.
February 3, 2025 at 12:57 AM
"An ally." Grow up and be constructive. Your purity tests show you have no concept of democracy. So freaking disappointing
February 3, 2025 at 12:44 AM
Start counting the deaths now. He killed an extra million with covid - how many more this time? I am disgusted by the shortsightedness. Goodbye democracy, goodbye rights and goodbye many, many lives.

Get over your tantrum and fix the mess you made
February 3, 2025 at 12:35 AM
This was down to the voters 100%. This is a democracy. Or it was until a bunch of toddlers decided their disappointment over their pet issue was more important than stopping fascism. Now they get to inherit the burning remains of the democracy they destroyed. They deserve their future.

One thing I'm beginning to see is if these super ai's are doing the scientific research, that research will be shaped, owned and controlled by whoever owns the ai's. One more blow to intellectual freedom as science serves power only

UBI and above national healthcare

Does it look like that with the naked eye? I would love to see the milky way looking like that
January 13, 2025 at 3:51 AM
I think we have forgotten *why* we should socialize politely with people who we don't align with perfectly - there are all kinds of social, psychological and above all political reasons. Your example re the parent at dance class was perfect.

Very interesting article. I liked the observation that our tech brings us closer to loved ones and strangers while eliminating contact with the middle ground. The increased family/ close friend intimacy masks that we're actually becoming antisocial. We feel connected but it is at cost.
