I wish I still had mine. Got it around '03 and it was purple. Gave it to a friend later as they couldn’t afford one but then shortly after their mom passed and they moved away to a different country as they had family there and I’ve never seen them since. Im 5‘11“. Had to find out how to calculate that as a metric guy. I still find it interesting that the magic number in the US ist 6ft (1.82m), but in Europe 1.8m, which exactly is 5‘11“.

Needless to say that you need a very long and thin screwdriver to reach them and it’s necessary to use a JIS driver, even tho it looks the same as philips/+. They are different and you will strip the screws if you use a + driver on there.

BTW I might add, there is a Chinese tutorial on how to fix this problem and they made a mistake in there that will break the camera. The top casing comes off very easy, but not after only removing the 8 screws on the top casing as they say but also the 2 screws in the battery compartment.

It took me longer to screw the casing back on than to fix the prism in the viewfinder. 5min to fix the prism, which a camera technician charges 100 bucks for and 20min to sort the screws and put them back to where they belong. Don’t wanna cut me threads in 30yo plastic…

BTW it’s a dick move by Nikon to use JIS00 screws with the same length but different thread pitch. And the thread is so small that the difference isn’t visible to the naked eye. Had to sort the screws under the microscope.
