My recommendation for that: They don’t need gear right away and they need “just enough” at certain intervals to maintain minimum iLevel. So you can throw merchant gear, cheaper MB stuff or leveling roulette dungeon drops on them until they’re leveled, then your hand-me-downs. 😊

It’s not quick Gil, but it’s slow and steady. Get your retainers to top level in their field, then have them go on field expeditions for crafting mats or quick explorations for random stuff. Sell said stuff on the market board or trade it through the grand company for things that sell. Profit!

I wonder if part of the problem is what happens when folks are allowed to age? Example: Alphinaud started as a pompous kid folks loved to hate. He has evolved so much he’s now like a kid brother to many. What happens if he pops into another shard and comes out like older Varshahn or ShB Urianger? 😳
