Indeed. That said, I have heard of cases like this going to an external competitive candidate so who knows. But I did feel that it's worth putting out the warning.

Well one of the horses helped write the grant, one of the horses didn't do any work on the project but has a PhD thesis on a similar topic, and one of the horses talked with the last author about the general area at a regional meeting back in 1993.

I had three goals in this design: (1) teaching that evolution is actually common knowledge, (2) emphasizing that social Darwinism is not an inherent part of the theory, and (3) emphasizing that this wasn't strictly an innovation of the European elite of the time.

..the knowledge of heritability, variation, and selection that entailed. Then came back to Darwin and Russell and why at that moment people of that social class in England were talking about scarcity in natural environments (Malthus) and deep time (Lyell).

I just did this in my bio for non-majors course. I inverted it...focused on the broader social and cultural worldview that was led these workers to believe in a designed hierarchy with themselves at the centre, then switched quickly to the deep history of domestication and...

This is the second biology course now where some of the most engaged and excited students in my course are English majors. Perhaps this is a coincidence. But this is the beginning of a pattern I'm observing.

Reviewer 3: This is not novel, I made this observation in an unpublished review of a paper that was subsequently rejected back in the 1990s and joked about it over beers with an eminent now-dead colleague in the poster session of a semi-annual regional symposium in 1993.

Scarier to me is the implied conversation between Left and Right, where white nationalists are willing to back modest socialist reforms if socialists support an aggressive de-Judaization of various institutions. Parts of the Left are eating this up.

Antisemitism is a common and easy path foreard for any failed social movement, and it's always going to be led by narcissistic hucksters like King. Not unique to Christianity but there's a lot of red meat in there to rally the troops.
