I think "Arrival" is the best cut I've seen at human/alien interaction.🤔 I get that screenwriters/studio bosses don't want too many complications. Still the potential for misinterpretations as a story element/twist seem such an opportunity.

The spaceships were cool: better IMHO than the Trek counterparts. I was disappointed that the aliens were all humanform with face appliques. Spiders would have been nice. Or methane breathing squids whose communications humans could only translate with ~70% confidence.
