Vintage book alert! If you can find it, check out Grendel by John Gardener. Sometimes we need to see things from the monster’s point of view, even if, at the end of the day, we still find them to be monsters. First published in 1971, this is a 1985 reprint.

I’m really enjoying Mary Jo Bang’s translation of Inferno, though it is at times jarring to be confronted with modern references. Very much recommended!
