I think that a fair point and also a smaller part of this: there’s a history of (some) Canadians getting pissy every time we sell things to “bad” people who then use them as designed (e.g., LAVs to Saudi). Either we’re in the arms business or we’re not 🤷🏻‍♂️

And to be clear, not bothering will have a very significant impact on the medium- to long-term appearance of our economy. Huge opportunity for multilateral growth. Or we choose to bury our heads and pretend the choice is between things being built or not instead of built by us or someone else.

I’m gonna vehemently disagree because this will come to a head: Canada has a defence industry. There is an active effort to significantly grow that industry. The key secondary benefit is export of things - sometimes things that can kill people. Either we make peace with that, or shouldn’t bother.

To be fair, the German staff would took almost five years to hand control over to Hitler, not ten months..
