The route route was taken from Jack Thurston’s book, Lost Lanes south, ride #11 and included two of Surry’s famous climbs Leith Hill and Box Hill which was featured in the 2012 London Olympics.

The weather was simply stunning, for a gravel ride along the cliffs from Beachy Head to Cuckmere Haven. The views were absolutely spectacular! then through the trails of Friston Forest, and made my way back home via the South Downs Way from Jevington to East Dean Road.

Solo ride from Polgate over to Newhaven, then met up with the Beach Head CC long route riders at Mamoosh for snacks and drinks, joined the big boys for the ride back via Beachy Head

Choosing the Ditchling Beacon car park might not have been my wisest decision. The thought of tackling the steep ascent of Ditchling Hill, loomed over me like a mountain-sized challenge, especially as it awaited me at the very end of the route!

Joined the Beachy Head CC ‘big’ boys ride this morning for a 70 mile Saturday group ride.
When I got back to Polgate I decided to extend the ride and get a full fat British 100 miles in, did have to ride around Eastbourne twice though!

The day began rather misty and gloomy, although the sun made a few attempts to break through the clouds. At least it was warmer and less blustery than the previous couple of days.
