To speed things up there is a rotating set of builds, each stacked on the changes already running. If one fails the ones stacked on it are cancelled.

There is a special flag for add-to-tip that makes the pipeline run as single issue with guarantee that you are on the very newest change.

When the offender is found a rollback is inserted.

To handle this they do batching. A bunch of commits are grouped together to do a build and test.

If the batch fails it does a binary search to find the merge that broke it. This is automatic.

I was thinking of the merge pipeline at Google. They get about 100,000 pushes a week from humans. That's a merge every ten seconds and probably more during daytime. There is even more traffic from scripts.

The state of being caught up to the latest is pretty fleeting.

He said the same thing about the east wing.

When there’s tens of thousands checking in continuously nearly every build is slightly out of date. Most of the time it doesn’t matter but when it does the build system needs to pull out the breaking change and start rolling again automatically.

A build result but not from the very tip. Usually it’s okay to be synced with a recent tip.

Starting a war seems like a legitimate reason to not get a peace prize.

They have 45 days to delete i, right?
January 17, 2026 at 4:35 AM
CCPA gives the company 45 days to delete it unless a government agency tells them to keep it longer.
