I'm astonished at how cluttered and hard to read it is. "Hard to read" seems to be the new theme across both Mac OS and iOS.

There were two message board communities I was deeply involved with (one I ran) and we didn't need rules regarding politics. They were before the division kicked in. But I don't think it was politics that killed them, it was the social media apps which were easier to use and had a farther reach.
